INDIAN GOVERNMENT AND TOURISM

Government has key role to play in growth of travel tourism and hospitality industry. Government carries the overall responsibility for promoting this sector in its own country even we can say that it is the duty or responsibility of government to create and help to tourism to come and visit the foreign countries because without the help of government, this sector cannot take growth and become developed as it is today. Effective and efficient government is needed to create the best help if they want tourism to thrive in their countries. This all will consider as a help which shows increment in the economic development of their country.

Adding, India’s rank in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) of the world Economic Forum has moved from 65 in 2014 to 34 in 2019. Aiming to promote the adventure tourism, 120 mountains peaks for mountaineering and trekking has been opened. This all is done for the tourism to attract and increase the foreign exchange ratio.

Among all the sector this one is the worst affected sector due to corona virus outbreak and lockdown. And this sector was expecting relief measure as a part of government rupee 20 lakh core package which is aimed to build economy and support which are terribly  hit by pandemic (announced by finance minister). This industry which has come to screeching halt due to lockdown since march leading to massive loss of everything like revenue(5 trillion),jobs (38 million). Even though cash flows across online and offline travel operator & hospitality partners.

INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF TOUR OPERATORS (IATO), which represents more than 1600 operators for inbound tourists, has urged the government to provide relief measure to the tourism industry. So government provide some incentive which help the industry to recover and get the same progress or even more than previous growth because this is the only industry which impart services to take the people from one place to another, provide good place to nature and show the different culture of every new place that’s why it is very necessary to grant some measures.(https://bit.ly/2zUmWNe)
